My ADHD Foundation

Our Mission
with commitment

Our foundation was created to advance the accuracy of diagnosis and effectiveness of treatment for people with ADHD through patient care, research, education, and advocacy.

Our foundation is committed to funding and disseminating the world’s literature on adult ADHD in an organized format for health care providers, patients and families, and policy makers in the United States.

While the International ADHD research community has published adult ADHD diagnostic and treatment guidelines, there are no research-based U.S. adult ADHD guidelines for health care providers and patients. This absence is a glaring oversight that represents an unmet need for the general public and adults with ADHD in the United States.

Our Impact

Today, millions of people in the U.S. with ADHD go without care. Why? They don’t even know they suffer with a very treatable condition. This care is delivered by a broad range of providers with varying degrees of training and experience. Without U.S. adult ADHD guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of adult ADHD, well intended providers provide what they think is best but absent a research foundation to diagnosis and treatment.

Our Progress

We are at the ground level and just getting started. Our Foundation in collaboration with national and international adult ADHD experts intends to participate in the development and publication of U.S. Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of ADHD in adults. This publication would be a monumental advancement for the care of adult ADHD in this country. Such guidelines would provide foundational parameters to health care providers, insurers, and policy makers when caring for adults with ADHD.

Our Progress

Join a national movement

With the clear need for U.S. Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of ADHD in adults, we ask you to help us advance the care of those you know with ADHD. A standard of care based on research and ethical consideration for patients is the inarguable mission we undertake.

Our Mission with Commitment

There are many people invested in the adult ADHD world. Researchers, medical and mental health providers, educators, insurance companies, policy makers to name only a few. The publication of adult ADHD guidelines will ensure that patients receive a consistently high quality of care from their providers across the United States regardless of where treatment is provided.

The increased use of telemedicine for mental health services demonstrates the tremendous need by people around the country. While providing access to care, it has complicated the delivery of mental health care especially in adult ADHD. Regardless of where care is delivered (in-person, online, on the phone, etc.), the principles of treatment should follow standards of care and ethical guidelines established by the American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, the American Medical Association, and other professional health care provider organizations. Following such guidelines regardless of where treatment is provided ensures that patients receive a similar quality of care across the United States. Makes sense? Of course, it does. It is what everyone wants from their medical care.
